Applications For The 2025-2026 Food Scholarship Are Now Open
2025-2026 ACADEMIC YEAR MEAL SCHOLARSHIP GUIDE
During the 2025-2026 academic year, low-income students studying at our university will receive one free meal per day in our university cafeteria. Applications for the meal scholarship are accepted between October 6, 2025, and October 17, 2025.

Students wishing to benefit from the Meal Scholarship must apply at https://burs.balikesir.edu.tr/. When applying, they must follow the following order:
You can apply for the meal scholarship by answering the meal scholarship questions in the Scholarship Application tab of the Scholarship Module.
After clicking the Scholarship Application button, the student's personal questions will be answered. If the option indicates "Select File," the required documents must be uploaded.
After verifying that all information is correct, you can complete your application by clicking the "Submit My Application" button. No further action can be taken after the application is submitted.
It is important to prepare the following documents in PDF format before applying to ensure a faster and smoother application.
Required Documents:
* A copy of the birth certificate obtained from the e-government (Must include family information! The parental status must be visible in the birth certificate. Otherwise, your answer will be invalid.) * Martyrdom and Veteran Certificate
* National Athlete Certificate
* Document Proving Loan/Scholarship Status
* If you have a sibling studying in higher education (excluding open education), a document proving their active student status (must be obtained from the e-government and verifiable. * Document showing your family's income. Parental SGK registration document (https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/sosyal-guvenlik-kayit-belgesi-sorgulama) You can check and print your parents' SGK registration through your e-government account at (https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/sosyal-guvenlik-kayit-belgesi-sorgulama). Payslips for employees; a photocopy of the income tax return for self-employed individuals; and a document showing the most recent month's salary for retirees.
* If you are disabled, a document showing your disability status.
* If you live in provinces affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered disaster that occurred on February 6, 2023, you must submit a document from the e-government document detailing the damage status of your residence.
Students eligible for direct meal scholarships
The following students are eligible to directly benefit from meal scholarships upon request, without being subject to announcement or evaluation:
a) Students who can document their national athletic status and do not receive any scholarships from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
b) Students with a disability of 40% or more, provided they provide a medical report.
c) Students who can document that a mother, father, or sibling is a martyr or veteran.
d) Students who have achieved first place in international/national science, culture, arts, or sports on behalf of the University.
Meal Scholarship Application Evaluation
Applications are evaluated based on the student's family information, residence status, income, academic achievement, number of siblings studying, relatives of martyrs or veterans, disability status, achievements in competitions participated on behalf of the University, other scholarships and loans received, etc.
The scholarship will be terminated for students who do not receive any meal scholarships within the first month of the scholarship's commencement date, who use less than 50% of the meal scholarship in a semester, or who misuse the meal scholarship (such as by lending it to others).
Meal Scholarship Procedure and Duration
Students who qualify for a meal scholarship may continue to receive it until the end of the academic calendar.
The meal scholarship provides students with one free meal per day, including lunch or dinner.
The meal scholarship also terminates upon the termination of their student status.
The method and duration of the meal scholarship may be changed by the University Board of Directors.
